Get Your Summer Smile in Shape in Two Visits or Less [Blog]

Cosmetic Dentistry 3 at Douglas A. Callow, DDS Office in Plymouth, MI

Along with the welcoming warmer weather, summer brings along a busy social calendar. With Fourth of July gatherings, weddings, reunions, vacations, and more, it’s a popular time of year to get in shape. That might mean hitting the gym more often or skipping on bread with dinner to fit into last season’s wardrobe. What about getting your smile in shape?

Though it’s often ignored, you can do very little work to get a dazzling smile that can affect your entire appearance. If you think about it, a great smile is one of the most noticeable things about celebrities. Make people notice your smile for the right reasons this summer, whether you’re on the beach or getting a photo taken at your daughter’s wedding. No surgery or injections required, either!

Perhaps the best part, though, is that we can make a big difference in just one or two visits. To see how you can get a better smile, take a look below, then call 734-404-7336 for a consultation with Dr. Callow.

Visit Once to Reshape Your Teeth or Gums

What if we said in exchange for an hour or less, we could make subtle changes that will give you a more balanced, attractive smile? Lots of patients have taken us up on this offer over the years.

With tooth contouring, we can fix uneven tooth edges, worn and “flattened” teeth edges, pointy teeth, and cracks along the edges. Over the last few decades, Dr. Callow has perfected this treatment. You can expect a gentle, painless procedure and a great outcome. He will simply use a tool to shape the edges, removing a very tiny amount of enamel until your tooth looks virtually perfect and your problem is erased.

On the other hand, he can gently reshape your gums if you need more of your teeth to show. This procedure can balance out a gummy smile so that you have less gums and more teeth showing. We’ve seen many patients who had great teeth, but they just couldn’t show them off the way they wanted with their gums overpowering them.

Visit Twice to Hide Multiple Flaws or All Flaws

If your flaws are more extensive or involve stains, cracks, gaps, misshapen teeth, and other issues, it’s possible for you to fix all of them with one treatment. Veneers are a comprehensive solution that can take your smile from flawed to perfect in two visits to our office. That means if you have an event coming up, you could get a brand-new smile in as few as two or three weeks, as long as you have no underlying conditions that need to be fixed first.

The magical thing about veneers is that you can get just one veneer for a problematic tooth or several for all the teeth that show when you smile and customize them the way you want. If you want all your teeth to be shaped and colored a certain way, we can design your veneers to do just that.

At your first visit, we’ll make sure your teeth are healthy before doing anything else. Then we’ll prepare your teeth and take impressions and measurements to send to the lab to custom-craft your veneers. Of course, we’ll also talk with you about what you don’t like about your smile and what features you want to see in your dream smile. Some people bring in photos of smiles they like, clipped from magazines or printed from the internet.

Your veneers will take a couple of weeks to make, then you’ll come back for Dr. Callow to bond them seamlessly to your teeth. You will walk out with a perfect smile, if that’s your goal.

Veneers are one of our longest-lasting solutions. Patients who take care of their veneers can get a good decade or even two-plus decades out of them. A small investment for fast results now can pay long-term dividends.

If your damage is more extensive, ask Dr. Callow if you can get a beautiful ceramic crown in two visits instead.

Visit Twice to Brighten Your Teeth

Another quick way to get an impressive smile quickly is with professional teeth whitening. Our whitening is designed for ultimate convenience. You’ll come in for one visit, where we’ll take impressions to create custom whitening trays. This custom fit ensures the trays not only fit comfortably and snugly, but also that they will keep the whitening gel off your gums and on your teeth only.

You’ll come back for the trays soon after. We’ll provide instructions for use, but it’s pretty flexible. Most people wear their whitening trays while doing household chores, relaxing, or sleeping. You’ll notice results quickly, and in a couple of weeks, you’ll have much brighter teeth. Our patients often tell us they look younger, healthier, more attractive, and even more successful just by getting a whiter smile.

Our whitening provides more dramatic results and is more comfortable than whitening kits from a store. And we’re just a call away if you have questions.

Don’t panic if you need a better smile this summer. Dr. Callow and our team have solutions. It’s possible to get your smile in shape in two visits or less. Call our Plymouth, MI cosmetic dentist today at 734-404-7336 or use our online form to make an appointment at Douglas A. Callow, DDS.
